Insurance pages mix coverages, add-ons and small print into one knot. We took two US providers for each of three types (auto, homeowners and renters) and pulled out what their own pages say: what you can cover, what costs extra and what is left out. This is a short list, not the whole market and not a ranking. Your real price and cover only come from a personal quote.
These are general descriptions from each provider’s own pages, not a policy and not a quote. Your policy contract decides what is covered. Options depend on your state, your address and the provider’s review of your details. We don’t sell insurance, ask for your ZIP code or take applications. Premium
The price you pay for the policy. Only a personal quote shows yours, so we show no prices here.
Deductible
Your own share of a covered claim, on coverages that have one. It is often taken off the payout. Not every coverage has a deductible, and one policy can have different ones.
Limit
The most the policy pays for a covered loss. Anything above the limit can fall back on you.
A simplified example: one covered claim under a coverage that has a deductible, such as collision on a car policy. No real amounts.
DeductibleInsurer’s shareOver limit
1. The deductible is your share. Depending on the policy, it can be taken off the settlement or paid to the repair shop.
2. The insurer covers the rest, up to the limit. Only for a loss the policy covers, valued the way the policy says.
3. Above the limit, it can be yours again. Pick limits that fit what you could lose.
Not every coverage has a deductible. On a car policy, liability (which pays for harm you cause to others) generally has none. An exclusion means a loss is not covered at all, so none of these steps apply. That is why we list limits and exclusions for every profile below. Six profiles, two for each type, taken from each provider’s own coverage page. Not a full-market comparison and not a promise that any provider is cheapest or best for you. Quotes depend on your own details, so compare quotes with the same coverages, limits and deductibles. No provider pays for its place.
