Capital One's terms list no monthly fee, so there is no balance or deposit rule to keep up just to avoid that fee. That covers the monthly fee only. Other service fees in the bank's fee schedule can still apply.
ATMs and cash deposits
ATM access
70,000+ fee-free Capital One, MoneyPass and Allpoint ATMs. Check the locator for eligible machines.
Cash deposits
The sources confirm at least one way to deposit cash.
Deposit at eligible Capital One ATMs or use an app barcode at participating retailers such as Walgreens and CVS. Store deposit limits apply.
Overdrafts
No overdraft fee in the bank's terms.
No overdraft fees. Options include Auto-Decline, Free Savings Transfer and No-Fee Overdraft; eligibility and bank discretion apply.

No minimum balance to open or maintain. Account approval is required.
Other conditions
- Some services, including outgoing wires and additional checkbooks, can cost money.
- Capital One Cafes do not offer the same services as full bank branches.
Deposit insurance
FDIC coverage is generally $250,000 per depositor, per insured bank, per ownership category. Deposits in the same category at the same bank are combined. New Capital One and Discover accounts opened on or after May 18, 2025 count together under the applicable FDIC limits.
